Vintage Rockmount Ranch Wear "Tru-West" pearl snap western shirt, made in Denver, Colorado, USA.
ERA: Circa 1975–1989, most likely late 1970s to early 1980s. Dated by the label: the white-and-navy Tru-West tag reading both "Made in U.S.A." and "Custom Fitted" is the label Rockmount used from 1975 to 1989 (the earlier label was the rainbow "Custom Fitted," and in 1989 "Custom Fitted" was dropped). The no-iron 65/35 poly-cotton fabric and the care tag fit squarely in that window.
BRAND: Rockmount Ranch Wear was founded in Denver in 1946 by "Papa" Jack Weil, who invented the snap-front western shirt and the sawtooth pocket. Still family-owned and still made in the USA; Rockmount shirts are in the Smithsonian and have been worn by everyone from Elvis to Eric Clapton.
DETAILS:
• Black and white glen plaid body with a solid black sawtooth (scalloped) western yoke, front and back
• Pearl snaps down the front and 2-snap pearl cuffs
• Long sleeves, pointed western collar
• Blue "RRW" woven brand tab at the side seam
• 65% polyester / 35% cotton, machine wash cold, no ironing needed
